For the time being, I will be using this blog and my facebook page (make sure to go out and "like" it if you haven't already...I've been so kind as to add the link for you here at my blog--check out FitKO's Favorite Resources Links to the right) to keep you informed and excited about all that God is using me and FitKO Health to do in the Rockford/Grand Rapids community. What exactly do I mean, you ask? The mission and purpose of FitKO Health is to help plant & harvest healthy bodies, spirits, and lives one person & one goal at a time, whether it be through 1-on-1 Wellcoach Health Coaching, Personal Training (1-on-1, partners, or small groups), Exercise Prescription (plan design without the trainer--me--there to bark at you:), basic Nutrition Advising, Mommy & Me FitKamp, Family FitKamp, Family FitKitchens, FitKO Fitness Parties and/or Fitness Instruction...it will happen! (Note: to see a full list of services and pricing, please refer to the FitKO Health Services list.)
Since this post marks the "grand opening", I thought it'd be appropriate to share the meaning behind the naming convention, as well as the reasoning for (or rather accreditation to which I owe this all to) the nod to Ecclesiastes 11:4.
First off: the name. Well, for obvious reasons, I chose the word "Fit" to represent my expertise in and passion for Fitness in particular. "KO" because, well, those are my initials and obviously a play on the word company (I know, you're marveled by my creativity, aren't you?). And "Health" because it encompasses all types of health within the wellness circle--spiritual, emotional, educational, mental, occupational, physical, and social--which I believe are all critical components that deserve special attention in achieving optimal health. Along that same vein is where the tag line "Maximizing bodies, maximizing lives" was born from; in fitness people often times have one physical health goal in mind that very obviously affects and hopefully maximizing the body in one or more ways. But often times people overlook those remaining health barriers (emotional, educational, mental, occupational, & social) that may be the key to unlocking one's greatest health potential; that is why I use my Wellcoach Health Coaching Certification in all that I do as it's the best proven way to help others reach their full potential.
Lastly, good 'ol Ecclesiastes. As I briefly mentioned above, FitKO Health is a dream that has finally been actualized. While I've come to own this dream, it was never fully mine. This dream has been a dream that God instilled in me and has slowly (& patiently) seen me through to fruition...and man, God is good! Whenever I'd get inpatient in God's unveiling of this plan he had for me, I would turn to His word and He always had the right thing to say. For a long time, I relied heavily on Jeremiah 29:11 ("For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future"), yet I would still never fully surrender my fears and follow his cues when he was telling me now was the time; I still let my fears of my own definition of perfect timing run His plan...that was until my August 8, 2012 Purpose Driven Life Devotional was delivered to my inbox. Once again, His word proved ever faithful and as always, on time: Ecclesiastes 11:4 kindly reminded me that "If you wait for perfect conditions, you will never get anything done". WOW! Not only did it completely apply to me in my life at that time, but it also serves as a powerful reminder & speaks volumes to anyone wanting to make a lifestyle/behavior change; and that's what FitKO Health is all about...helping plant & harvest healthy bodies, spirits, and lives one person & one goal at a time.
Awesome! So happy for you Kellin...Can't wait to like your facebook page!
